Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci says Pristina "awaits U.S. President Barack Obama's plans related to the Western Balkans". Interviewed by the Vienna-based daily Der Standard, and asked whether the United States supported Kosovo enough in the past period, Thaci said that the Kosovo Albanians are "very grateful to President George Bush, the government and the American nation". Thaci awaits "Obama plans", accuses Serbia of "genocide" "We are part of the European family, we will be part of the EU and NATO. Also, there will be even more recognitions from the countries of the Islamic Conference, but it seem that things have complicated a little, more than we expected," he said, adding that "the promises are still valid and we expect they will be fulfilled". As for the EU countries that have not recognized the Kosovo Albanians' declaration, Thaci said this came "due to their internal problems", and continued that these states are "waiting for a better moment to recognize Kosovo's independence". Pristina, he continued, is ready to talk to Belgrade "about the practical issues which are in mutual interest, as envisaged by the Ahtisaari plan". He also commented on the future of the divided town of Kosovska Mitrovica, by saying that "Kosovo's territorial integrity is indivisible", and that, "no one can touch the sovereignty". "It's true that Belgrade is acting very negatively in that place and it is time to understand that there will be no European future if independence of an independent state is being threatened," Thaci was quoted as saying. The former leader of the ethnic Albanian separatist paramilitaries in the province, who went by the nickname of Commander Snake, also told the Vienna daily that – Kosovo was "never Serbian". "Serbia has no place in Kosovo, because they were there through the use of force. They occupied that land and committed genocide. It's time for Serbia to think about what they did and to apologize to the citizens of Kosovo. The face of Serbia in Kosovo is the face of genocide, no more, no less," said Thaci.
