The city of Novi Pazar has filed a lawsuit with the district public prosecutor’s office against Sulejman Ugljanin and 50 activists of his SDA party. The party is a member of the Bosniak List for a European Sandzak coalition. Bosniak List leader faces lawsuit The charges were filed for attempted murder, bodily harm, fighting, endangering security, causing danger, preventing state officials from performing their duties and violent behavior, according to the cabinet of Novi Pazar Mayor Mirsad Djerlek. The charges relate to an incident in Novi Pazar last weekend. The suit states that Ugljanin led a group of citizens that “attacked the city culture center”. In another move, Djerlek, associated with Rasim Ljajic's Sandzak Democratic Party (SDP), called on Ugljanin to meet with him on January 23 in the city administrative building at any time he chooses. The mayor’s cabinet stated that the meeting is "expected by the thousands of poor residents of the city who deserve to live in a city that offers perspective and improvement”. Ugljanin and Ljajic, bitter political rivals in the southwestern Sandzak region, both joined the Cvetkovic cabinet as ministers after the May 2008 parliamentary elections in Serbia.
