Serb Radical Party (SRS) deputy leader Dragan Todorovic has denied buying land from the municipality of Zemun in 2000 at the cost of RSD 1 per square meter. Speaking to B92, he said that he had bought one section from a private landowner and the other from the municipality in line, he stressed, with all the existing laws and the market price at the time. Now, I can’t remember how many marks there were to a square meter at the time, but like I say, you can check the mark-dinar exchange rate,” said the SRS deputy leader. “I can’t recall exactly, but I think it was between RSD 6 and 9 per m2, so that was how much I paid. DM 30 per m2, I don’t know how much the mark was then,” he said. Todorovic said that he had paid “extra-profit“ for a flat of 90 m2. He had not wish to reply when asked whether it had been ethical to receive a flat after only 10 months spent in government. The SRS deputy leader accused former Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus of registering a state flat in his wife’s name to avoid paying tax. After the program, Labus called B92 to repudiate Todorovic’s claims, saying that he had never received a flat from the state. Dragan Todorovic (FoNet, archive)
