EU ministers say Kosovo still faces big challenges, like bolstering the rule of law, protecting Serbs, and tackling corruption and organized crime. Noting that progress has been made in certain fields, particularly with the adoption of a number of important laws, the EU Council of Ministers' draft declaration, due for adoption today, states that certain big challenges remain. EU: Kosovo still faces huge challenges These include “strengthening institutions and the rule of law, protecting Serbs and other minorities, combating corruption and organized crime, budget and fiscal reform, as well as improving the standard of living." The Council also calls on Pristina to assume a constructive approach towards regional cooperation. In this context, the ministers reiterate that the EU is ready to assist the province’s political and economic development by way of a clear European perspective, in line with the European perspective of the whole region.
