Opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) leader Tomislav Nikolic said on Saturday that he "could not imagine joining a coalition with the Democrats (DS)". And while "under the normal circumstances", such a coalition on the state level was ruled out by Nikolic in an interview for Tanjug news agency, he added that cooperation might be possible "in case of some huge crisis in Serbia", which would prompt his party to offer minority support to the DS-led government, and also on the local level. Nikolic would like two-party system The former Radicals (SRS) number two underlined that his "ideal picture of Serbia" was that of two opposed blocs – one which led by the DS and the other headed by SNS. In Nikolic's vision, reported by the news agency, "these two blocs would take turns governing Serbia, something similar to the U.S. political system". "There is something one could qualify as cooperation. For instance, if the Serbian government should realize that a difficult crisis is ahead of us, which will befall our country sometime in late January or February, and if it should decide, despite the opposition of some of its members, to cushion the impacts of that crisis by a strong and open cooperation with the Russian Federation, we will be ready to help," Nikolic pointed out. Asked if it was possible that after the next new elections the SNS could set up a government with the DS, he answered that would be possible only in case that Serbia was facing with such a great crisis that would demand all parties to decide on the fate of the country.
