Councilors of the Serb assembly for the municipality of Priština have overhauled the directors and board members of the municipality's public companies.

Councilors of the Serb assembly for the municipality of Pristina have overhauled the directors and board members of the municipality's public companies. At the proposal of the assembly majority, made up of the Serb Radical Party (SRS) and the Vidovadan citizens’ group, all the proposed candidates were appointed to their new posts during the assembly’s session in Gracanica. Reshuffles in K. Serb public companies The majority of opposition representatives' objections were focused on the lack of experience and inadequate qualifications of the new company directors. The new appointments covered the boards of directors for the utility companies, the Palace of Culture in Gracanica, the Library, the Cultural-Educational Community, and the Film Distribution Company. Of the 12 new directors, two will head institutions that have been out of operation since 1999—the Cultural-Educational Community and the Film Distribution Company. The dismissals sparked indignation in certain quarters, with some of the outgoing directors threatening to go on strike or not hand over their duties. 39 of the assembly’s 47 councilors attended yesterday’s session, and the decisions were adopted with a majority vote by the ruling coalition.
