Constitutional becomes “ordinary people” court

The Constitutional Court of Serbia will shift focus from normative control of law to human rights and freedoms protection, Court President Bosa Nenadic says. She added in a statement on Monday that thus, the court will "slowly turn into the court of ordinary people”. At the opening of a seminar on the European Human Rights Convention, Nenadic recalled that the Constitutional Court had been given new competencies under the new highest legal act adopted in 2006, giving it powers to decide on protection of human rights and freedoms in specific constitutional and legal disputes.
