Socialist Party of Serbia Vice-President Branko Ruzic says that no-one has yet asked the SPS to renounce Slobodan Milosevic and his policies. Ruzic said that procedures were under way to have the party enter the Socialist International (SI). "No call to renounce Milosevic" Asked whether the SPS would renounce Milosevic if this was a condition for membership of the SI, he replied that he did not want to go into hypothetical questions. “When something appears on the agenda, we’ll certainly be more than ready to respond to everything that could turn into a problem,“ Ruzic told daily Dnevnik. It comes after the vice-president of the European Socialist Party (ESP) MEP bloc, Hanes Svoboda, said yesterday that the SPS would not be able to join the ESP and the SI until it renounced its and Milosevic’s role. The SPS vice-president said that this was Svoboda’s own personal view. According to Ruzic, only the SI’s ethics committee could launch such an initiative.
