PM warns of slower GDP growth
Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković says that because of the global financial crisis, only modest GDP growth can be expected in 2009.

Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic says that because of the global financial crisis, only modest GDP growth can be expected in 2009. According to Cvetkovic, GDP growth next year may only be 4 percent, unlike 2007, when it was about 7 percent. PM warns of slower GDP growth At the same time, he said that this would be a very good growth rate and announced plans for reduced public spending. “As regards monetary policy, fiscal policy will have to be tighter in the sense of restricted public expenditure and the effective creation of a sustainable budget for the coming year,“ said the prime minister.
