Americans to feature in EULEX

The EU Council of Ministers has approved the U.S.’s participation in the EULEX mission in Kosovo, it was announced in Brussels today. The Council has adopted a document on U.S. participation, according to which Washington would ensure that its officials “participate in the mission in accordance with the EULEX Joint Action and operational plan.” Americans to feature in EULEX Under the agreement, EULEX Mission Chief Yves de Kermabon will command and control all teams and units. However, the U.S. has asked for two dispensations—“all disciplinary measures to remain under U.S. jurisdiction” and for the status of American members of the mission to remain “under the U.S.’s exclusive legal jurisdiction”, the statement from Brussels reads.
