The State Public Prosecution has announced a coordinated campaign to identify organizers of the neo-Nazi gatherings. This announcement came a day after police, out in force in the streets of Belgrade, managed to prevent far-right and anti-fascists activists from clashing. Prosecution to probe neo-Nazi rallies 34 persons that MUP suspected were liable to cause trouble were detained, among them one French, four Romanian and four Republic of Srpska citizens. "On the occasion of the right wing and nationalist organizations' gatherings, Republic Public Prosecutor Slobodan Radovanovic is announcing that a joint action of the police and prosecution will see all measures undertaken with the goal to discover who the organizers of these gatherings are," Spokesman Tomo Zoric told B92 today. "All legal measures will be undertaken against them, to prevent the occurrence of these gatherings in the future and make it clearly known that organizations that promote such ideology will not be tolerated in the territory of the Republic of Serbia," he added. Earlier, Police Director Milorad Veljovic said that those detained yesterday wore Nazi insignia and were "verbally provoking the police and participants in the anti-fascist rally". Several hundred people were reported to have taken part in that rally, while some 2,500 riot police and Zandarmerija (Gendarmerie) officers were deployed in the streets of Belgrade on Saturday.
