Deputy British Ambassador Bill Longhurst says there is no reason why Serbia should not become part of the EU in the coming years. Longhurst said that Serbia first had to meet a series of political conditions, first and foremost, those pertaining to cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. That will bring a better standard for Serbian citizens, and will, at the same time, qualify Serbia for EU membership,“ said the deputy ambassador. He also highlighted the importance of judicial and economic reforms. “It’s necessary to reduce state influence on the economy, carry out privatizations. That’s all necessary for you to join the EU free market. These projects are long-term, but essential,“ Longhurst underlined.
