Former Red Star FC director and footballing legend Dragan Dzajic has become a Montenegrin citizen. This, observes say, could complicate the criminal procedure led against Dzajic, who spent months in prison this year as an investigation into alleged fraud at the club during his time at the helm is ongoing. Montenegrin Interior Minister Jusuf Kalamperic last night announced that the former Red Star president is now a Montenegrin citizen. The decision was based on the fact that he has owned a house in the exclusive Adriatic resort of Milocer since 1985. Dzajic and two other former club officials – Vladimir Cvetkovic and Milos Marinkovic – are investigated on suspicion that they made illegal financial gains in the transfers of several players who moved to clubs abroad. The three were arrested in February, and had subsequently spent five months in prison.
