Commercial Court Judge Zeljko Munjiz was arrested today on suspicion that he broke the law in a bankruptcy procedure. The charges against him are related to the bankruptcy of BIM Slavija company in 2006. Commercial Court judge arrested Lawyer Nemanja Jolovic was also detained by MUP officers today in Belgrade. Police suspect that Jolovic, the bankruptcy manager at BIM Slavija, and Munjiz, president of the bankruptcy board of the company, approved an illegal payment from the company’s assets to Yu Trade Zeleznik firm. BIM Slavija’s creditors sustained damages of over RSD 64mn. Jolovic has already been indicted in the so-called Bankruptcy Mafia case, in relation to other suspected crimes. The Serbian parliament today stripped Munjiz of his immunity in an emergency procedure, making way for the arrest operation later in the day.
