The Kosovo Albanian authorities are still blocking a medical supply shipment sent to the Serb enclaves. Director of the Gracanica Health Care Center Radmila Trajkovic on Monday once again warned that existing supplies in central Kosovo are dwindling, and that the situation will become alarming unless UNMIK customs releases the shipment, blocked in southern Kosovska Mitrovica for the past 20 days. Serb enclaves still without medical supplies Trajkovic told Tanjug that she fears the customs have no intention of normalizing the supply of medicines to central Kosovo in the near future. "Someone within the institutions is not willing to allow in medicines for the sick people of the enclaves. I expect those who are responsible in the Kosovo and Metohija Ministry and the Health Ministry to exert pressure, via the World Health Organization, so that agreed solutions are realized," Trajkovic stated. She underscored that Serb health workers in Kosovo are fully prepared to be engaged in ensuring control and legality of medications dispatched to central Kosovo. UNMIK customs spokesman Adriatik Stavileci told Tanjug that the problem is "within sole authority" of the representatives of a Kosovo agency regulating the trade in medical materials. Although during a previous such crisis Belgrade, Pristina and the WHO reached an agreement on how to handle the dispatch of medical supplies to the isolated Serb enclaves in the province, this is the sixth time that shipments have been blocked.
