Sejdiu: Serb offensive doesn’t scare us

Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu says the Serb campaign aimed at halting the recognitions of Kosovo "is not causing fear". Announcing he will travel to the United Nations in September "for talks with a large number of foreign statesmen", Sejdiu said that "the Serb offensive against the recognition of of independence does not scare Kosovo and its international partners". Sejdiu told the Pristina-based news agency KosovaLive that this was "the wrong road for Serbia, if it wishes to be a part of Euro-Atlantic integrations". He also said he was convinced that there will be new recognitions, and added that "the Serb policy of pressure is futile, while Kosovo's road of independence is irreversible". Sejdiu continued that Kosovo will create all preconditions for "a modern state", in other words, will have "an elite army", functional police, successful diplomacy and functional government, that will secure economic development. "Among the countries that have recognized Kosovo are those who achieve 60 percent of the world's GDP and those who finance 80 percent of the UN expenses," Sejdiu revealed. Kosovo's ethnic Albanians unilaterally declared independence of the province in February, which Serbia rejected as illegal. Belgrade is preparing to ask the International Court of Justice, ICJ, to give its opinion on the legality of the proclamation of secession.

Sejdiu told the Priština-based news agency KosovaLive that this was "the wrong road for Serbia, if it wishes to be a part of Euro-Atlantic integrations".

He also said he was convinced that there will be new recognitions, and added that "the Serb policy of pressure is futile, while Kosovo's road of independence is irreversible".
