An ethnic Hungarian party official says his party will not sign a declaration of political reconciliation with SPS. “That does not mean that we are not prepared to cooperate with all the parties of the ruling coalition. We are just not prepared for collective amnesia, or collective amnesty when talking about the Socialist Party of Serbia,” Pastor, of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, SVM, told Novi Sad daily Dnevnik. Ethnic Hungarians: No SPS reconciliation Pastor said that Vojvodina Hungarians “cannot forget all of evil which they [SPS] perpetrated during the 1990s”. “However, we are ready to help the ministers in their work, regardless of what parties they come from. Because this government was the only possible one and because we support, first and foremost, its pro-European orientation,” he said. Pastor added that he hopes that the SPS officials "will show that the party has changed since the 1990s". The Socialists were the ruling party in Serbia for over a decade since the early 1990s, founded and led until his death by Slobodan Milosevic. They are currently a part of the ruling coalition, led by a group of parties gathered around the Democrats (DS). The SPS and DS are expected to sign a reconciliation declaration.
