President Boris Tadic has discussed key issues for Serbia with his U.S. and French counterparts in Beijing. “I once again stressed to U.S. President George Bush that Serbia would never recognize Kosovo independence, and that we are continuing to seek a negotiated solution through legal means, in which we also require the U.S.’s help,” Tadic told Serbian media representatives after a reception organized by Chinese President Hu Jintao for 100 statesmen from all round the world in the Chinese parliament building. Tadic said that he had discussed ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with Sarkozy. “This was our first conversation. The French president had understanding for our position, and further cooperation on Serbia’s European integration lies ahead in the near future,” said the president. He added that he had received assurances from Balkenende that “that country too will change its approach to Serbia, which will observe international law in every respect.” Tadic stressed the importance of such discussions during his stay in Beijing, which began with a meeting with the Chinese president himself. “These are very important meetings in terms of defending our interests at the forthcoming UN General Assembly. A hot summer and even hotter autumn lie ahead, but we are continuing our foreign policy offensive,” the president stressed.
