Zemun Clan verdict on 1,000 pages “The verdict will have 1,000 pages because the case was very wide-ranging,” Special Organized Crime Court's spokeswoman Maja Kovacevic explained. Kovacevic added that the court’s records in the case have more than ten thousand pages. The chamber, presided by Judge Milimir Lukic, sentenced 26 members of the Zemun Clan to a total of 465 years in prison for criminal networking, 18 murders, three kidnappings and two terrorist attacks. Kovacevic said that the judge "would not use his vacation until the job was done". She added that the copies of the verdict would be sent to the prosecutor, defense lawyers and the defendants. After they receive the document, the prosecution and defense have 15 days to appeal the verdict to the Supreme Court of Serbia. Milorad Ulemek Legija, a former commander of the Special Operation Unit (JSO), was sentenced to a single 40 year prison term. The same sentence was given to Milos Simovic, Vladimir Milisavljevic and Sretko Kalinic, who were tried in absentia. The court ordered the defendants to pay the kidnapping victims EUR 12mn fifteen days after the verdict became legally binding.
