The government has appointed Sasa Vukadinovic as the new director of the security services (BIA). Vukadinovic previously held the post of director of the Administration for the Execution of Penitentiary Sanctions. Govt. appoints new BIA chief Environment Minister Oliver Dulic, who made the announcement at a press conference following today’s cabinet meeting, did not want to talk about what the priorities of BIA’s work would be stating that this was a matter for the newly appointed BIA chief. Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti writes that Vukadinovic is politically affiliated to the Democratic Party (DS), and that he was proposed by DS leader and President Boris Tadic. In 2001, Vukadinovic was appointed chief of the Krusevac police and was involved in Operation Sabre that followed the assassination of the late Zoran Djindjic. Former BIA Chief Rade Bulatovic resigned shortly after the new government was formed. The government today adopted the draft Law on Associations that regulates the work of both domestic and foreign associations in Serbia. The government also adopted a proposal for the Law on Personal Information that regulates the protection, processing and the usage of citizens’ private information, as well as a Law on Council Housing.
