The Hague Tribunal has sentenced General Pavle Strugar to 7.5 years in prison for the shelling of Dubrovnik in 1991. The Tribunal’s appeals chamber rejected Strugar’s appeal and partially accepted that of the prosecution. 7.5 years for Dubrovnik attack commander In January 2005, Strugar received a first-instance sentence of eight years in prison for the shelling of Dubrovnik’s Old Town on December 6, 1991. Dubrovnik was bombed by the JNA’s 2nd Operative group under his command. Miodrag Jokic ,who served under Strugar and who commanded the Boka Navy Sector, had previously accepted responsibility for the attack. Jokic was sentenced to seven years in prison, and subsequently testified against Strugar. The general voluntarily surrendered to the Tribunal in 2001, and was released on bail until December 2003.
