Priština reacts to new government

Pristina expects the new government in Belgrade to banish its prejudices regarding Kosovo, says President Fatmir Sejdiu. Commenting on the formation of the new ruling coalition in Serbia, Kosovo officials have been careful to distance themselves, stressing that Serbia and Kosovo are two different countries. Commenting on the new government, Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci said that the future of Kosovo no longer depended on changes within the government in Belgrade. “Kosovo has a clear vision for its foreign policies, and that is integration into NATO and the European Union,” Thaci said. “We have built great relations with Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro, and of course, we want to have close ties and good relations with Belgrade. There are issues that need to be discussed in the interests of the people of our two countries. These are specific issues unrelated to political status,” he explained.
