Boris Tadic says that any reconfiguration of UNMIK without Serbia’s permission or a UN Security Council decision is illegitimate. The president made the comments today in Athens to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, stating that he had made Serbia’s position on the issue clear at a recent Security Council meeting. Tadic: UNMIK reconfiguration illegitimate “The reconfiguration of the civil presence in Kosovo must be carried out with Serbia’s permission if we are to respect the principles on which the international community is based today,” Tadic said. He said that he would be talking again with Ban and other international officials regarding a proper solution to this problem. Tadic said that the Serbian government did not want to push Serbia into isolation, but to solve the Kosovo problem through negotiations with international officials. “The principle we will continue to insist on is that we do not recognize Kosovo independence in any form,” Tadic said.
