Feith to Montenegro: Recognize Kosovo

EU's representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith says he expects Montenegro will recognize Kosovo's unilateral independence "as soon as possible". Feith was speaking for the Montenegrin national broadcaster RTCG on Wednesday when he expressed his expectation that all the regional countries, including Montenegro, will recognize Kosovo. Feith to Montenegro: Recognize Kosovo Ethnic Albanians in the province declared secession on Feb. 17. Serbia has annulled this act and considers it illegal. However, the Dutch diplomat said that recognition "perhaps wouldn't be a friendly act toward Belgrade, but it would contribute to regional stability". He also expressed his conviction that Montenegro's recognition would cause no serious consequences. The EU official says that Serbia would perhaps withdraw her ambassador from Podgorica. "And that would be all," Feith concluded.
