55 Bosnian Muslims, murdered by the Serb forces in May 1992, were laid to rest yesterday in Zaklopaca, near Vlasenica. All 55 were civilians. The Islamic religious ceremony at their funerals was conducted by Effendi Muharem Omerdic, with Bosnian Presidency Chairman Haris Silajdzic and Bosnian Federation PM Nedzad Brankovic attending. Bosnia: Serbs remembered, Muslims buried Dzevad Mahmutovic, who chaired a committee set up to organize the burials, said that the surviving resident of the village feel bitter at the fact that nobody was arrested and tried in connection to this crime. Also Saturday, in the village of Ratkovici, near Srebrenica, a different religious ceremony, this time conducted by the Serbian Orthodox Church, was held in memory of the 23 Serb civilians killed by the Muslim forces in 1992. The Srebrenica and Bratunac Veterans Association and members of the victims' families attended, lighting candles and placing flowers at the site. A Srebrenica-based Muslim unit, commanded by Naser Oric, attacked Ratkovici on June 21, 1992, and killed 23 of its residents. No one has yet been indicted or arrested in connection to this crime.
