An ambulance belonging to Gracanica Hospital, carrying two seriously ill patients, has been stopped at the Merdare administrative crossing by the KPS. The police stopped the ambulance because the driver had not paid the newly-introduced tax on cars bearing non-Kosovo number plates. Ambulance stopped at Merdare crossing Outpatient Hospital Director Rada Trajkovic said that the KPS had not let the driver enter Kosovo even though he had had a green card. “The patients remained there until the arrival of another vehicle, in to which the two patients were transferred, while the ambulance is still at the Merdare crossing, placing in jeopardy the hospital’s further work,“ said Trajkovic. She said that Albanian leaders' talk of tolerance towards the Serb community was a lie. "Since the promulgation of the Kosovo constitution they have engaged in the most direct repression against the Serbs. Repression against such seriously ill people is something that directly discredits the institutions in Pristina that are ready to engage in the most serious forms of ethnic discrimination and threats to the lives of the sick," she said. The ruling concerning the payment of road tax for vehicles with Serbian number plates came into force on Thursday, said KPS spokesman Veton Elshani.
