SRS deputy leader Tomislav Nikolic says he is sure that Socialist leader Ivica Dacic has decided to form a government with the DS. Nikolic added that the entire process could be over by the end of the month. SRS: Dacic has plumped for DS “Dacic has already lost his unnatural position that everything depends on him, because, after our and Kostunica’s calls for him to finally make his mind up, his position has become even harder. He cannot tell [Boris] Tadic now: I’ll either go with you or with them. He hasn’t got us any more, only the Democratic Party (DS), and he’s left with huge opposition within his own party”, he told Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti. The Serb Radical Party (SRS) deputy leader added that due to mistakes made by the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), otherwise certain coalition partners had been lost. "They lost them at some point. When we entered negotiations, I was assured that Dacic was all right, and that the DSS would speak to [Associated Pensioners Party leader Jovan] Krkobabic and [United Serbia leader Dragan] Markovic. [Sandzak Democratic Party for Action leader Sulejaman] Ugljanin was never an issue, because the DSS have been helping him for ages. But he betrayed that help, because the Turkish prime minister talked him into it. To me, it seemed as if part of the DSS didn’t want that government,” Nikolic lamented. He believed that when the strongest political party gave up on the prime ministerial position during the campaign itself, its position had weakened. "Honestly, I expected more seats. I’m completely aware of my responsibility. We had inexplicably poor results in certain municipalities, especially Vojvodina. We have to do a critical analysis of all of us who led the campaign. This is a crucial moment for the SRS, and we can feel it,” Nikolic said. He ruled out, however, the possibility of a break-up of the Belgrade coalition, while he considered the possibility of the DSS and the Democratic Party (DS) joining forces in Belgrade as pointless.
