Survivor testifies at Tuzla column trial “The army was coming under fire from all sides. Bora (the driver) was shot and I told everybody to get out of the truck. The four of us jumped out, and that’s when I was wounded,” the witness recalled. Afterwards, they went to a nearby building where they were met by the local police, to whom they surrendered their rifles. He said that he had seen more wounded soldiers in the building, and that they had spent the night there, before being transferred to Gradina hospital. There, he said, they had been mistreated, before being taken to a police station and later still to a prison in Tuzla. According to the indictment, Jurisic, as a reservist of the Bosnian Interior Ministry and a senior officer in Tuzla public security operational HQ, following the orders of his superior Meho Bajric, issued a command to open fire on the JNA column that was withdrawing from the barracks in Tuzla. Jurisic pleaded not guilty to the charges when the trial began on February 22.
