According to Serbia’s dailies, it is becoming ever clearer that the DS-led coalition will form a coalition with the SPS coalition and the minorities. Daily Blic’s sources say that the coalition, dubbed “For a European Serbia“, is unwilling to concede the post of prime minister in the new government to Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic. Dailies: Pro-EU govt. on cards However, according to the same paper, the Democrats are prepared to offer Dacic the post of deputy prime minister with control over the work of the security services, while the most serious candidate for the top job is Bojan Pajtic. “An offer of either the post of prime minister or deputy prime minister to Dacic was considered, but that was a week ago when it was still uncertain whether Bosniak coalition leader Sulejman Ugljanin would choose to work with the Democratic Party (DS). Now that that has been established, and Dragan Markovic has already decided in favor of the For a European Serbia list, Dacic’s room for manoeuvre is limited,“ claims Blic’s source. According to the daily’s sources, G17 Plus explicitly opposes the SPS leader being offered the post of prime minister, though it is prepared to offer him the job of deputy prime minister. G17 Plus is also due to sign a coalition agreement with Sulejman Ugljanin’s “For a European Sandzak" coalition. Daily Vecernje Novosti also writes that it is unlikely that the DS’s coalition partners will allow Dacic to be the new prime minister. Quoting its sources, the paper writes that G17 Plus, Serbian Renewal Movement and League of Vojvodina Social Democrat leaders Mladjan Dinkic, Vuk Draskovic and Nenad Canak did not accept such a solution, even though DS leader Boris Tadic was prepared to offer Dacic the mandate to form the next government.
