The French secretary of state in charge of European issues says "a European future is closer to Serbia than to Kosovo". Jean-Pierre Jouyet added Monday that Serbia should "look to the future", at the same time underscoring that the independence of Kosovo was "inevitable". "That in itself already indicates that the negotiations on Serbia will proceed more simply, because it is recognized by everyone," the French diplomat said.
