LDP offers support to Democrats

A senior Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) official says she expects Serbia to get a pro-European government. Vesna Pesic also told the daily Blic today that her party will support the Democrats (DS) in their bids to form such a government. LDP offers support to Democrats "I suppose that after the mandates have been verified in the parliament, it will become obvious who has the majority to put together a government and that these will be the pro-European parties, with some borrowing from the nationalist bloc," Pesic was quoted as saying. She added that it should be this way, since, in her words, the citizens have decided in favor of a normal life, while "pressing the nationalist bell no longer helps, which is a significant change". Great support from the citizens to Serbia's European path is the reason why the LDP will support the Democrats, Pesic explained. "We will support a government with the SPS coalition, especially when it comes to Serbia's closer ties with the EU. We will support all legislative initiatives, as we have done so far," Pesic said.
