Šešelj trial witness to face contempt of court charges

Ljubisa Petkovic was transferred today from Serbia to the Tribunal’s Detention Unit for refusing to appear as a witness at Seselj’s trial. Petkovic is charged with contempt of the court, due to his failure to answer the Tribunal’s confidential subpoena of April 7, 2008 to appear as a Chamber’s witness in the case of Vojislav Seselj, states a Tribunal press release. Seselj trial witness to face contempt of court charges On May 13, 2008, the Trial Chamber issued a confidential order in lieu of an indictment and an arrest warrant for Petkovic. Today, the Chamber lifted confidentiality from the aforesaid order. Petkovic’s first court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow, when the accused will be able to enter a plea to the charges against him, the Tribunal’s press release concludes.

On May 13, 2008, the Trial Chamber issued a confidential order in lieu of an indictment and an arrest warrant for Petković.Today, the Chamber lifted confidentiality from the aforesaid order.
