New Serbia (NS) leader Velimir Ilic says that “For a European Serbia” representatives called him to form a government after the May 11 elections. In an interview today with daily Press, asked whether there was any chance of cooperation with Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic, Ilic replied: “I wouldn’t do that even if my life depended on it, even though many of them called me after May 11 to help them get closer to a majority.” Ilic: DS called me to form government “I’m no traitor! How could I start working with Djilas, when he stopped corridors on behalf of the National Investment Plan. Only EUR 2.5mn was set aside from the NIP which is enough to build half a kilometer of road. Or, how could I go with Sutanovac when we’ve been waiting ten months for his signature so that we can start building flats on army property?! And with Dinkic, there is absolutely no way!” said the NS leader. He said that Serbia would have a new government no later than the start of June, and that it would consist of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS)-NS, the Serb Radical Party (SRS), and the Socialist coalition. “Our talks with the Socialists and Radicals are going very well. The most important thing is that all three parties have agreed over the basic principles of the future government, so that Serbia, with God’s will, will have a national government in two weeks, at the latest,” said Ilic. According to the NS leader, personnel issues had not yet been discussed, while talks on the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) would continue at the insistence of United Serbia leader Dragan Markovic, whose party is one of the members of the Socialist coalition.
