The newspapers continue with contradictory speculation about who might form the new cabinet; Boris Tadic speaks on the same subject on three front pages. ALO—"Dacic blackmailed", says this tabloid, and offeres the claim as the reason why the Socialist Party of Sebria (SPS) and its leader Ivica Dacic appear to be closer to a forming a government with the DSS-NS and SRS than with the DS-led coalion. Press: Tadic reacts to post-election woes "SPS warns Tadic – Vucic mayor", says of the wrangling on the local level in the capital. BLIC—But this daily says Socialists are closer to making a deal with Boris Tadic and his Democrats, and says it has learned from its sources this is what will be offered to the SPS: "Dacic deputy premier, Mrkonjic minister". President and DS leader Boris Tadic is interviewed on the front page: "People did not give Kostunica mandate". BORBA—The daily also leads with government negotiations: "DSS, SPS talk cabinet, Boris Tadic sends message, 'We'll defend election will'". VECERNJE NOVOSTI— The front page brings several stories about the ongoing cabinet talks: "Closer to government"; "Vucic mayor"; "Today government deal, Socialist to side with SRS-DSS-NS"; "Democrats await outcome and still believe in alliance with SPS". GAZETA—"Vucic Belgrade's first man after all", the tabloid says that a deal on the new mayor of Belgrade is close at hand between the Radicals, the DSS-NS and SPS. The front page also makes this claim: "SPC Synod decides: New patriarch awaits new government". GLAS JAVNOSTI—"Tadic loses Belgrade", more on the possible outcome of the battle over who will become Belgrade's next mayor. Professor Cedomir Cupic and SRS official Dragan Todorovic, from opposing ends of the Serbian political scene, are interviewed under, "Can forming of government cause street riots". DANAS—"Battle for Socialists", the daily leads with what became obvious on election night – that no government will be put together in Serbia without the decisive SPS factor. The start of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) assembly is reported under, "Uncertain agenda and issue of patriarch". DS official Dragoljub Micunovic reveals: "Cooperation with Socialists possible on all levels". "Either Ivica or police van", a pun in Serbian translates to this, whereas the articles suggests that "Democrats are offering tens of millions of euros in order to rule again". POLITIKA—"Socialists run first round", the daily says of the negotiations to put together a new ruling coalitions. "Done deal: Vucic Belgrade mayor", says another headline. Another DS official is on another front page, this time Vuk Jeremic: "Socialists change, we don't", he tells the newspaper in an interview. PRESS: The tabloid spoke to Boris Tadic: "I'm forming government with Dacic", the Serbian president and DS leader says of his coalition's possible alliance with the Socialists.
