RIK's coordinator for the province, Veljko Odalovic, said all the conditions for the local and parliamentary ballots to take place have been met, and that the voting will proceed as in other parts of Serbia. There will be a total of 279 polling stations in Kosovo, with an additional 16 special polls for the IDPs who live inside the province. Odalovic also said that RIK has issued accreditations for some 10 organizations to monitor the voting in Kosovo. "RIK's accreditations are valid in the whole territory of the Republic of Serbia, and each observer is free to visit any polling station. We cannot say with certainty who will show up in Kosovo. I believe there will be plenty of interest," Odalovic said. Yesterday, UNMIK chief Joachim Ruecker once again said that the local elections in Kosovo are illegal under UN Resolution 1244.
