Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) leader Vuk Draskovic says that Serbia is doomed if it does not choose the European path at the next elections. Speaking to B92’s Poligraf, Draskovic said that a lot of untruths had been spread about the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), and that neither was it a secret, nor Solana’s document, and that it was a document that would confirm our country’s sovereignty. "Serbia doomed without Europe" He added that the agreement had been initialed by Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica’s government, and that it should be signed now. Failure to do so would be an expression of the prime minister’s dangerous intentions, the SPO leader stressed. Serbian citizens would doubtless be for the EU if only they knew exactly what it meant, he said. “If today, let’s say, we go by car through Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, what will we see? In front of 9 out of every 10 building sites, regardless of what’s being built, you’ll see a sign saying ‘Built with EU funds.’ Where’s that money coming from? From one big EU fund called the EU Regional Development Fund. A fund financed by the most developed, richest countries to help the accelerated development of the least developed and poorest,” Draskovic explained. The SPO leader said that Europe was not Serbia’s nemesis, and that export to EU countries was many times higher than to China, India and Russia.
