Liberalization of the visa regime depends on the Serbian government and parliament, says Olli Rehn. The European Enlargement Commissioner said in Brussels today that by the end of April, the European Commission (EC) would present “a road map” for visa liberalization that would list the conditions Serbia has to meet for her citizens to be able to travel to the EU without visas. Rehn: No consensus on SAA signing “This EC program will be presented to Serbia at the end of the month, and the draft document will be presented to EU members at the start of next week,” said Rehn after a meeting with Parliamentary Speaker Oliver Dulic. Asked whether the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) would be signed with Serbia, the commissioner replied that “there is no political consensus currently in the EU” on the matter. “I personally believe that it’s possible to sign the SAA, and transfer the conditions to ratification,” he said. Dulic said that Serbia had to become an EU member as soon as possible, and asked parliament and the EU to support Serbia’s “road map” for European integration that he had presented.
