Health Minister Tomica Milosavljevic says that medical supplies have arrived at Lipljan and Gusterica health centers. Milosavljevic told a press conference that all the supples, save for some dental equipment, had arrived late last night. Medical supplies arrive in Serb enclaves UNMIK customs workers had held the consignment back at the border for two weeks. The medicine and emergency health equipment was sent from Serbia to Serb-majority enclaves and communities in Kosovo. A license for the shipment was requested by the Kosovo Agency for Medicine Transportation. Commenting on the delay, Milosavljevic stressed the seriousness of “the matter of further medical supplies to health institutions in Serb areas,” but said that he was pleased with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) efforts, adding that cooperation with other UN agencies had been excellent. He said that Health Ministry coordinators for Kosovo and WHO Head of Mission to Serbia Dorit Nitzan would talk to UNMIK officials regarding the supplying of medicine to Kosovo. The health minister said that the heath center in Kosovska Mitrovica would receive new equipment, including an ultrasound machine, adding that more ambulances and emergency vehicles had also been purchased for health institutions in the province. He added that the supply of medical equipment to health centers in Serb communities was progressing unhindered, and that assistance was being offered to all patients “regardless of nationality.”
