The Serbian embassy in Skopje has protested against Macedonia’s plans to demarcate its border with Serbia, around Kosovo. The embassy submitted its protest to Macedonia's Foreign Ministry yesterday, announced the Serbian Foreign Ministry. Belgrade protests demarcation moves It announced that Serbia would bring the matter before the competent UN institutions, as this represented a breach of international law, the UN Charter and bilateral border agreements. “The Republic of Macedonia has committed an act in contravention of international law and the provisions of the 2001 bilateral agreement on state frontiers by deciding to embark on demarcation of the administrative boundaries with Pristina representatives, who do not have legitimacy, and who are not authorized for such activities,” reads a ministry statement. The statement adds that Macedonia has also broken an agreement on regulating and enhancing cooperation from 1996 where Serbia and Macedonia committed to respecting each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Kosovo and Macedonia yesterday began talks on demarcating their common administrative boundary with a meeting of a common technical commission.
