Vojislav Kostunica says that UNMIK’s claims that Serbian police were present in Kosovo are nonsense. The prime minister said that the UN mission in Kosovo would have said where the Serbian officers were stationed if they had any accurate information regarding the matter. Kostunica says UNMIK claims are “nonsense” “This is new, utterly unsubstantiated nonsense,” he said. Asked about the charges that were being filed by Serbia in the International Court of Justice against countries that had recognized Kosovo’s unilateral independence, Kostunica said that this was the best way to get international legal experts from various countries to participate in the process. He said that these charges were not defending Serbia, but international law and order. “We are sure that we have a basis for the charges, and we should launch proceedings immediately,” Kostunica stressed. He dismissed as completely untrue U.S. President George Bush’s statement that Kosovo independence was the only possible solution, because “if that were true, that would mean that stability could be achieved by violating international law and order.” “Kosovo is proving to be a dangerous precedent for instability in other parts of the world,” the prime minister warned.
