The Center for Youth Integration, with B92 and MTS’s help, is collecting funds for a new drop-in center project. The goal of the project, entitled “Drop-in Center for Street Children”, is to provide food and clean clothes at the center for young people living and working on the streets, as well as to give them the opportunity to discuss their problems with resident professionals. B92, MTS help launch drop-in center All those interested in helping in the project can send text messages to MTS, while B92 TV will provide media assistance. Belgrade’s big problem is the lack of normal accommodation for socially at-risk children and youngsters. Drop-in centers are the first line of protection, and are open 24 hours, whenever the need arises. All the proceeds will be used for carrying out on-the-field work with children and youngsters, then for their transfer to premises in Krfska Street, where they will be able to speak to social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, medical staff, in order to become involved in the system. “MTS has allowed its users to send money by texting 1019, which costs RSD 25, and all the proceeds will be diverted to the Center for Youth Integration,” says MTS Sales and Marketing Director Jelena Stojanovic. B92 will constantly monitor and report on new developments at the drop-in center, and investigate the problems faced by children and youngsters living and working on the streets. The following example shows that this very complicated job is not just a matter of supplying the most basic needs, but also linking children with the system: 169 minors are registered in the drop-in center’s books, who, once the work in Krfska Street is complete, will be moved to Zvezdara. All companies , organizations and individuals interested are encouraged to get involved in this campaign.
