Judge killed in bomb attack

Knjazevac Court President Dragisa Cvejic has died of injuries sustained in a bomb attack this morning, the Supreme Court confirmed. The attack took place at 0700 as the judge was leaving his house and going to work. His wife Vesna and son Janko were indoors at the time of the attack, and were not hurt. Judge killed in bomb attack The police cordoned off the area early this morning, and are not allowing anyone near the Cvejic house. In Knjazevac today, nobody was able to tell journalists what the motive for the attack could have been. B92 understands that the criminal police from Belgrade have arrived in the town and have begun an investigation. Cvejic’s next-door neighbors say that the explosion was very powerful. The judge was urgently transferred to the surgical department of the Clinical Center in Nis where he was immediately operated on. This, however, is not the first attack on a judge in Serbia. Nine months ago in the Odzaci District Court, Judge Zoran Cvetanovic was murdered. During the trial, Ilija Danilov, the plaintiff at the trial, shot him dead with a pistol. Deputy Justice Minister Mirjana Tadic has traveled to Knjazevac to take temporary charge at the court in accordance with the Justice Ministry’s powers, announced the ministry. “The Justice Ministry expects the perpetrators of this deed to be caught very soon,” reads the statement.
