The Bulgarian government, as announced yesterday, has recognized Kosovo’s unilateral independence. The Council of Ministers’ media office announced the decision, reports the Bulgarian news agency Fokus. Bulgaria, Croatia and Hungary yesterday made a joint announcement that those three Serbian neighbors would recognize Kosovo's unilateral independence. Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Office has announced that the first UK ambassador to Kosovo will be Andrew Sparks instead of the previously appointed David Blunt. “Andrew Sparks has been appointed as Her Highness’s ambassador to the Republic Kosovo, instead of David Blunt, who moves to a new position within the diplomatic service. Sparks will assume his duties in April, 2008,” reads a statement. The reasons for the abrupt change were not given. Andrew Sparks has worked for the Foreign Office since 1983 and has been the UK ambassador to Congo since 2004.

Croatia and Hungary officially recognized Kosovo’s unilateral declaration of independence yesterday.Bulgaria today became the 33rd state to do so.
Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Office has announced that the first UK ambassador to Kosovo will be Andrew Sparks instead of the previously appointed David Blunt.
“Andrew Sparks has been appointed as Her Highness’s ambassador to the Republic Kosovo, instead of David Blunt, who moves to a new position within the diplomatic service. Sparks will assume his duties in April, 2008,” reads a statement.
The reasons for the abrupt change were not given.
Andrew Sparks has worked for the Foreign Office since 1983 and has been the UK ambassador to Congo since 2004.
