A large number of MUP officers are today securing seats of state institutions and some embassies. Several dozen public security officers, and MUP's riot policemen are deployed around the parliament and presidency buildings in the capital, as well as near the Belgrade city hall. The seat of the government is secured this morning by several officers wearing full crowd dispersal gear. A PTJ policeman would not tell Beta's reporter why they were deployed in front of the Turkish embassy, saying only that they "received orders to increase security of the structure". However, no increase in the number of policemen was reported in front of the U.S. and Croatian embassies, which were damaged in previous rioting sparked by the situation in Kosovo. Several NGOs have announced they will today, at 12:44 CET, protest in front of the government headquarters, in support of the Serbs in Kosovo, and to mark the fourth anniversary of their March 2004 pogrom in the province.
