Ethnic Albanians in the Presevo Valley ingnore parliamentary, but will take part in local elections. Both ballots have been called for May 11. Albanians in south interested in local polls The political parties in the three southern municipalities gathering Albanians are preparing for the forthcoming local elections but said they are "not interested" in the early parliamentary polls. Democratic Party of Albanians leader and Presevo Municipality President Ragmi Mustafa said his party will take part in local polls "as it wants a better life for local people", but that it is not interested in parliamentary elections because "Serbia does not wish to help ethnic Albanians". He expects victory in local elections and a majority in the municipal assembly. Democratic Union of the Valley leader Skender Destani said his party would take part in local polls on its own and that it is also not interested in parliamentary elections. He too is "dissatisfied" with what Belgrade has done for ethnic Albanians in southern Serbia and says he "does not expect anything better in the future". Democratic Action Party leader Riza Halimi, a lawmaker in the current, dissolved parliament, told Tanjug his party will individually take part the local ballot, and would discuss participation in parliamentary elections with all party leaders in the Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja municipalities.
