Aleksandar Vucic has not ruled out the possibility of the SRS forming a government with DSS after the elections. “We are hoping for our greatest success, our largest number of seats. This time we are convinced that we will form a government, if necessary, by forming a coalition. I would not rule out that possibility,” the Serb Radical Party (SRS) secretary general told B92. SRS-DSS post-election coalition “possible” Vucic did not answer directly when asked if his party had received an offer to support the minority government of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and New Serbia (NS), or enter a government with the DSS before Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica asked for new elections to be called. “We are not political traders, we are people with principles who have to work in the best interests of the citizens of this country,” he said. Vucic said that the SRS watched what it said to the citizens, and that the party was never afraid of new elections, because elections were a good opportunity for Serbia “even though, on this occasion, there were some other possible solutions.” The SRS general secretary said that his party’s view was that Serbia could become an EU member only with Kosovo within its borders. Asked whether he was prepared to complete cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, Vucic said that he had not heard the EU mention that condition, and that his opinion on the court was well known, adding that cooperation could not be completed because know one knew where the main fugitives, Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic, were located. Vucic was convinced that he would be elected mayor of Belgrade after the local elections. Aleksandar Vucic (FoNet archive)
