Hashim Thaci was at the Merdare checkpoint this morning to reveal a sign reading, "Welcome to the Republic of Kosovo". Merdare is situated at the administrative boundary between the province and central Serbia. Thaci reveals sign at administrative line The Kosovo prime minister was at the site along with citizens, and a large number of KFOR troops and Kosovo police members, for a brief ceremony. No representatives of the UN administration in the province, UNMIK, were present. The traffic at the administrative line was briefly stopped this morning.
