Kosovo's Prime Minister Hashim Thaci says the province will declare independence Sunday. "Tomorrow will be a quiet day, a day of mutual understanding and the state's efforts to fulfill the will of the citizens of Kosovo," Thaci said after a meeting with religious leaders in Pristina today. Pristina set to announce secession tomorrow The Albanian language media in the province also give details of the agenda for the Kosovo assembly tomorrow, which is set to adopt a unilateral declaration of independence in the afternoon. Serbia rejects this move as illegal, and has announced it will counter it with measures from its as yet undisclosed Kosovo Action Plan. Kosovo's ethnic Albanians plan to celebrate their declaration by a concert of a local philharmonic orchestra, and later with music from folk stars in the town's squares. Before the day is out with fireworks, the Albanian leadership of the province will address those gathered in the streets. Local media also say that an "obelisk of independence" will be placed in Pristina. Today, the town is decorated with Albanian, U.S. and some western European flags. Kosovo police, KPS, say that the situation is calm and without incidents. UNMIK police and KFOR have stepped up patrols in the Serb inhabited areas.
