The preliminary competition for places in the police-judicial EU Kosovo mission finished last week, daily Politika writes. In a document prepared for the EU Council of Ministers published by the Belgrade daily today, it is stated that the mission was looking for 1376 of the 1800 people needed for the mission. Politika: EU preparing Kosovo mission Since not all the positions had been taken when the first competition was announced in October, a second was announced on January 11, looking for 500 employees, mostly police officers, the daily stated. The EU also opened the competition to citizens from non-EU countries, including Croatia, Norway, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and the U.S.. Theoretically, a Serb with a Croatian passport could qualify for the job, the daily writes. Applications for the posts of police officer, customs worker, prosecutor or judge will be accepted for a further 12 months, though formal employment will not begin until the mission receives formal permission from the EU Council of Ministers.
