The Serb Radical Party (SRS) today launched a fresh attack on the Democrats (DS). The verbal clashes between the two campaign camps are getting more frequent ahead of the Sunday's run-off between Boris Tadic and Tomislav Nikolic—today, the Radicals say their rivals are "doing all they can to prevent" their candidate's Moscow trip. SRS: Democrats obstructing Nikolic's Moscow trip Nikolic is scheduled to travel to Russia tomorrow, for meetings with the country's top officials, SRS Secretary General Aleksandar Vucic explained in a news conference in Belgrade today. He then clarified that this means Nikolic will be hosted "on the highest possible level for an opposition representative." But the meetings, which the Radicals say will include that with Dmitry Medveda, a Russian presidential hopeful backed by Vladimir Putin, are being obstructed by the Democrats, Vucic added, without elaborating. As for the campaign, the SRS will hold its final convention Thursday at the Belgrade Arena, in New Belgrade. The event is set to last five hours, he explained. Vucic then accused the Democrats of a "dirty and hysterical campaign" that "shows how nervous, passionate and afraid they are." He revealed that Nikolic has received the backing from Sloboda, an association originally set up to defend the ousted former Serbian president, Slobodan Milosevic. Vucic also lashed out at the Center for Free Elections and Democracy, CeSID, and said that the organization, which is calling on voters to turn out and cast their ballots, "is persuading voters to join Tadic."
